Marmon acquires Australia’s WGC Crane Group

Marmon Crane Services, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company, announced on 1st May 2018 the acquisition of WGC Crane Group by a newly-created subsidiary, Marmon Crane Australia Pty. Ltd. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Based in Wollongong, New South Wales, WGC Crane Group provides mobile crane rentals, crane operators, and related services to clients throughout NSW and other parts of eastern Australia. The company’s fleet includes a variety of mobile cranes used for industrial maintenance, construction, and other projects.

With headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Marmon Crane Services owns and operates more than 1,000 mobile cranes, one of the largest such fleets in the world. Its companies include Freo Group, based in Henderson, Western Australia, Sterling Crane in Canada and the United States, and a joint venture, Astha Sterling Crane, in India.

WGC Crane Group will continue to operate under the WGC name. Current General Managers Marc Sergi and Rob McInnes will continue to lead the company with oversight by the management of Freo Group, which Marmon acquired in 2012.
