Product Description

The first prototype of Liebherr LTR1100 goes back as early as 2005 when Liebherr launched the 110-tonne telescopic crawler. It was the first telescopic crawler crane manufactured by the German maker which goes into standard series production. While Liebherr has previously built a one-off special version of its 800 tonnes, LTM1800, using crawler base from its Liebherr LR1550 crawler crane for a Japanese company in 1990.

The LTR1100 spun off its production through a very similar route, a request for a one-off unit, combining the LTM1100 all-terrain crane superstructure with the crawler undercarriage from LR1100 crawler crane. While Liebherr thinks that the telescopic crawler has a much wider appeal and its increasing popularity in Europe.

The 100-tonne telescopic crawler comes with a six-section 52-meter main boom, using the same Telematik boom pinning system as the LTM1100. An optional two-section 10.8 or 19 meters swing-away jib extension provides the additional reach and can be offset hydraulically up to 40 degrees.

The counterweight on the LTR1100 is the same that is used on the LR1100. In addition, there are 15 tonnes (2.7.5t) of car body counterweight. Meanwhile, there are two counterweight configurations, basic of 26.3 tonnes with six tonnes of addition for a total of 32.3 tonnes on the superstructure. It also has an optional 2.9 meters short assembly jib and the second winch to allow the crane to be used for two-line lifting operations for application such as the assembly of prefabricated building components.

The fully assembled LTR1100 weights a total of 102 tonnes. When all counterweights are removed, the base unit weighs 54 tonnes. If the optional jacks are included, the two crawler tracks can be quickly removed, reducing transport weight to 34.5 tonnes. The crawler chassis extends hydraulically from a travel width of 3.5 meters to just over five meres. The standard tracks use 900mm wide grouser plates. The stripped-down configuration will require three delivery trucks.

Milestones

Chim Kee Group debut LTR1100 in Hong Kong on 2010

LTR1100 debut in Hong Kong in 2010 by a crane rental specialist, Chim Kee Group. They put the first LTR1100 in Hong Kong to work on a 30-storey, two-tower government housing project in Hung Hom in 2010. The main contractor Shun Tak Yee Fai JV uses the 100-tonne telescopic crawler crane to work on the basement levels of two towers including lifting and placing steel girders and 40mm diameter.
