GTK1100 was first announced by Manitowoc Crane group during 2006 fall and the first unit was built at the company’s factory in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

The crane was shown in iron for the first time in late March 2007 at a customer day event at the Wilhelmshaven factory on the north coast of Germany.

The 110-tonne mobile tower crane consists of a wheeled carrier, a 6meterses 5-section TWIN-LOCK boom. The luffing telescopic boom, both connected by an 81 metres 6-section telescopic mast. Four spreaders at the top of the mast are attached to the outriggers at the base to provide better stability.

Optimal For Wind Turbines Erection and City Center Sites

The patented design of GTK1100 is possible to lift the heavy load at sites which setup space is restricted. While another major advantage that GTK1100 can be only be transported using a maximum of five trailers.

CPIE took delivery of Asia’s first GTK1100 in June 2009 & completed the first job in Mongolia

China Power Equipment Installation Engineering Co (CPIE) has taken delivery of the first unit of GTK1100 in Asia in June 2009 and subsequently sent it to Inner Mongolia for installation of two 1.5MW windmills in Ganqika.

They have completed the entire project by the end of the year by installing another 90 wind turbines with tower heights of more than 70 meters and turbine sections up to 75 tonnes in desert condition. See full story here.
