Key Features & Benefits
The Kato KR-300 is a highly maneuverable and compact 30-ton capacity rough terrain crane engineered for jobsite efficiency and flexibility. Its main boom is a four-section, fully powered telescopic design that extends from 9.0 m to 30.5 m (29.5 to 100 feet), using an axial plunger-type hydraulic system for smooth and powerful actuation. This gives the crane reliable mid-range lifting performance while maintaining a compact footprint.
The KR-300 also includes a two-section fly jib with a length of 7.42 m to 12.1 m (24.3 to 39.7 feet), with offset angles of 0°, 15°, and 30°. When combined with the main boom, the maximum lifting height reaches 43.6 m (143 ft), suitable for handling loads at height in confined industrial or urban projects.
Lifting performance is managed by two winches—main and auxiliary—each driven by axial plunger hydraulic motors. The main winch achieves a line speed of up to 120 m/min (393 ft/min) and a line pull of 30.0 kN (6,740 lbf) on the 4th layer, ensuring efficient load handling. The auxiliary winch operates independently, allowing simultaneous multi-drum work. Both winches utilize automatic brakes and free-fall devices for operational safety and control.
The crane is powered by a Mitsubishi 6D16T, 4-cycle, water-cooled, turbocharged diesel engine with a displacement of 7.545 liters. Depending on rating standard, it delivers approximately 158 kW (215 hp) at 2,800 rpm and a torque of up to 667 Nm at 1,600 rpm. A 400-liter fuel tank supports extended operation without frequent refueling.
Chassis mobility is ensured by a 4×4 drive system with a 6-speed (forward and reverse) transmission and torque converter. The vehicle includes front and rear planetary drive/steer axles and offers three steering modes: front-only, coordinated 4-wheel, and crab steering. This provides a tight turning radius of 6.3 meters (20.7 feet) and excellent jobsite maneuverability.
Outriggers are hydraulically actuated and provide full-span support with a footprint of 5.43 x 5.35 meters, while bearing-type slew mechanisms and hydraulic locking cylinders ensure precise control during lifts.
Safety features include an automatic moment limiter (ACS), boom angle indicator, hoist limit switch, radius indicator, anti-blocking device, and rear axle lock systems. The operator’s cab is ergonomically designed, featuring high-visibility windows and all-around instrumentation.
With a compact transport length of 10.93 meters and an overall width of 2.62 meters, the KR-300 combines mobility, reach, and lifting strength, making it ideal for industrial maintenance, utility work, and general lifting operations on diverse terrains.
