In October 2001, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., and Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd., jointly established the Crane Development Center to begin collaborative development. Subsequently, in July 2002, Hitachi Sumitomo Heavy Industries Construction Crane Co., Ltd., was established.
