UK sales and rental company Crowland Cranes has taken delivery of the first 150 tonnes LTM 1150-5.3 All Terrain crane to arrive in the country.
Successor to the 130 tonnes LTM 1130-5.1, the LTM 1150-5.3 features a 66 metre seven section main boom plus a 10.8 to 19-metre bi-fold swing-away extension that offsets by up to 40 degrees. A seven-metre insert can also be added to provide a maximum tip height of almost 95 metres and a maximum radius of 72 metres.
The five-axle crane can travel with up to 29 tonnes of counterweight, full extension and hook blocks within 16.5-tonne axle loads. Alternatively, it can travel on 12-tonne axle limits with nine tonnes of counterweight on board. Features include a single Stage V engine, VarioBase variable outrigger set up and an engine shutdown system, which includes over-speed protection for operation in oil, gas and petrochemical applications. The crane will be based at the company’s depot in Norwich.
Managing director Peter Issitt said: “This new LTM 1150-5.3 is a very welcome addition to our fleet. The proven quality and support provided to us by Liebherr GB over the years has given us the confidence to take delivery of the UK’s first and we look forward to introducing the crane to our clients throughout East Anglia. With the 29 tonne UK road travel counterweight, it will enable our depots to significantly reduce logistics when operating this new five-axle machine.”
Crowland Cranes runs a fleet of cranes throughout the east of England with depots in Peterborough, Bury St Edmunds and Norwich. It is also a dealer for Grove, Terex and Ormig cranes and runs a major crane repair, test and rebuild centre.
