Austrian crane, access and heavy transport company Felbermayr have taken delivery of its third 1,000 tonnes Liebherr LR 11000 lattice boom crawler crane. It has also ordered an 800 tonne LR 1800-1.0 lattice crawler crane, scheduled for delivery later this year.

Felbermayr was the first company to order an LR 11000 back in 2014 and was also the first to take Liebherr’s Power Boom system. The latest LR 11000 was ordered with a 168-metre main boom and Liebherr’s 15 metres F2 fixed offset jib. It also features the company’s VarioTray and V-Frame ballast systems.

The new crane went straight to work on a wind farm in Burgenland, Austria, replacing ageing wind turbines with more modern ones. In total, 10 4.2MW turbines with hub heights of 160 metres and rotor diameters of 138 metres were installed. The crane was rigged with 380 tonnes of central, suspended and slewing platform ballast, to take loads of up to 88 tonnes to heights of 160 metres at radii of up to 32 metres. A further 450 tonnes of counterweight was used to raise and lower the main boom.

Felbermayr operates a large crane and aerial work platform rental fleet while offering heavy lift and transportation and moving services from 72 locations across 19 European countries.
