North American terminal operator Logistec Stevedoring has ordered a Konecranes Gottwald Model 7 mobile harbour crane for its dry bulk port in Montreal, Canada.

Scheduled for delivery in October, the eight axles HMK 7608 B has a maximum capacity of 150 tonnes and a maximum radius of 54 metres. The crane can operate from an external power supply or from its onboard Tier 4f diesel engine. It will be used to handle dry bulk cargo such as scrap metal and service bulk vessels up to the Capesize class.

Logistec president Rodney Corrigan said: “We are always ready to go beyond and looking ahead, so we want quality equipment that’s going to support our continuous growth. Our mission is to enable reliable and sustainable supply chains that’s why we chose an electric drive solution for its combination of flexibility and eco-efficiency. Konecranes gives us high performance, strength and durability while offering opportunities for future growth and development.”

Alan Garcia, Konecranes port solutions sales manager for the Americas, added: “Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour cranes are familiar to Logistec. They have already been operating a Model 5 at the Port of Corner Brook in Newfoundland and two Model 6 units at Port Manatee in Florida.

The fact that Logistec chose us again for their Montreal operations, demonstrates the confidence they have in our equipment and that our cranes are ideal for a range of applications and future growth needs. Our partnership is built on long-term cooperation, common values and mutual goals.”
