In July last year, at a construction site in Iwakuni City, he was accused of negligent fatalities in business, alleging that he operated a crane that overturn with the safety device released and killed the driver of the underlay truck.
At the trial, the prosecutor’s office sentenced him to two years’ imprisonment, saying, “It was inevitable that an accident would occur because of the defendant’s response.”
Tsuneshu Sasaki, a 48-year-old accused of a construction company’s mobile crane in Iwakuni City, operated the crane vehicle at a construction site in Iwakuni City in July with the safety device released and turned it over.
He has been accused of negligent fatalities in business for killing a male truck driver.
At a trial held at the Iwakuni branch of the Yamaguchi District Court on the 1st, the prosecution pointed out that “the defendant had repeatedly released the crane safety device during work from about a year before the accident.”
He sentenced him to two years’ imprisonment, saying, “It was inevitable that an accident would occur because of the defendant’s response.”
On the other hand, the defence sought a suspended sentence, saying that “the accident was caused by multiple factors and the defendant is not the only one responsible.”
The verdict will be handed down on the 16th of this month.
