German crane rental company BKL Baukran Logistik has taken delivery of the first five axle 250 tonne Grove GMK5250XL-1 All Terrain crane to be delivered in Germany.
Ordered at its launch at Bauma last year, the GMK 5250XL is an updated version of the company’s GMK5250L, offering an eight section 78.5 metres main boom – 8.5 metres more the regular L model – topped by an 18-metre bi-fold swing-away extension that can be extended to 34 metres with additional inserts. Features include the company’s MAXbase variable outrigger setup, Megatrak suspension with all wheel steering and Twin lock boom pinning system.
The new GMK5250XL-1 went straight out on a job, assisting the construction of a 1,280-metre bridge spanning the Rhine on the A643, connecting Mainz and Wiesbaden.
Founded in 1969, family owned BKL Baukran Logistik operates a fleet of more than 500 tower cranes, 100 All Terrain as well as a number of loader cranes and self-erecting tower cranes from six locations across Germany. In addition to the new GMK5250XL, the company recently took delivery of two 150 tonne Grove GMK5150L All Terrain cranes.
