It was reported by various Japanese media that a crane accident has happened in Fukuoka on 12th September during noon time. The crane operator has succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead three days later in the hospital due to severe head injuries.
The incident happened at Daimyo Korechi, Daimyo 2-chome, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka where construction was being carried out for redevelopment for a famous school in the area. The crawler crane, which was supposed to be working on the deck, has fall seven metres in height to the basement level and its 40 metres main boom has flipped backwards vertically, hitting the building behind it. As you can see from the photo, most of the steel structure at the basement area has been severely damaged, resulting from the big impact from the crawler crane.
The deceased crane operator, Inoue Akira (62) was from Saga Prefecture and during the time of the accident, his head was hit by unknown objects, resulting him to succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
