Grove’s GRT8100 was named ‘Crane of the Year’ at an awards ceremony staged in Dubai this past June by Construction Machinery Middle East (CMME). CMME is one of the leading publications for the heavy machinery sector in the Middle East, and its annual Construction Machinery Middle East Awards saw 13,000 people voting across 20 categories to select the best and most popular machinery brands in the region.
After receiving the award at the gala dinner, Manitowoc leadership from the Middle East plus Fahad Kanoo, CEO of regional Grove dealer Kanoo Group, traveled to the Niella Tanaro factory in Italy where the crane is built. The team was there to congratulate all at Niella Tanaro on making the GRT8100 such a success in the Middle East. Andrew Youssef, general manager for Manitowoc covering Middle East, Africa, and CIS, said:

Manitowoc’s leadership in the rough-terrain crane market extends all over the world. That includes the Middle East, where more than 60 units of GRT8100 cranes are currently at work.
“The GRT8100 set new standards for what’s possible with a 100t rough-terrain crane,” said Federico Lovera, product manager for rough-terrain cranes at Manitowoc. “And what’s even more exciting, is that the crane was updated at the end of last year with the launch of the new GRT8100-1. We expect interest to be strong for this new model in the Middle East and are already kickstarting conversations with clients.”

The Grove GRT8100 is a 100t capacity crane capable of reaching up to 73 m when utilizing its maximum 47 m, five-section main boom, with a full complement of boom extension and insert options. It features the Manitowoc Crane Control System (CCS) with its user-friendly interface. There’s also a tilting cab and impressive load charts, while extensive component testing ensures greater reliability. The crane is powered by a Cummins QSB6.7L engine that delivers strong line pull, powerful hoisting capability and impressive lifting performance.
At the end of 2022, the GRT8100 was replaced with the GRT8100-1 in the Grove rough-terrain crane line. This exciting upgrade features the same impressive 360° load charts as its predecessor, maintaining the same overall dimensions, counterweight and five-section, 12 – 47 m full-power MEGAFORM® boom. However, with the new chassis on the 100t capacity GRT8100-1, customers have the option to integrate the highly flexible MAXbase variable position outrigger system, which offers up to 15% capacity improvements in certain configurations.
MAXbase also simplifies setup on congested jobsites, with each of the four hydraulically telescoping outriggers extended over a range of symmetric and asymmetric positions. Also new to the outrigger design is an auto-level feature for easy jobsite set-up, as well as Manitowoc’s smart, length-sensing Outrigger Monitoring System (OMS).
