Introduction of hybrid-electric cranes, digital tools, and comprehensive aftermarket services underscore commitment to innovation and sustainability
Manitowoc will present an extensive array of new cranes and aftermarket offerings at bauma 2025 in Munich, Germany. The company’s display will emphasize smarter lifting solutions, sustainable power technologies, and enhanced lifecycle services designed to increase uptime, improve performance, and maximize return on investment.
“At Manitowoc, our vision is to build the physical communities for current and future generations. To align with this vision, we will demonstrate at this year’s bauma how we are paving the way for a smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable future,” said Aaron Ravenscroft, President & CEO. “Our goal is to partner with crane customers in maximizing their return on invested capital of their fleets throughout the crane lifecycle by leveraging more efficient equipment, advanced tools, connectivity, and industry-leading product support.”
Advancing Sustainability
Among the key highlights is Manitowoc’s introduction of plug-in hybrid all-terrain cranes—an important step toward emissions-free lifting. The Grove GMK5150L-1e and GMK5150XLe, the latter to be displayed at bauma, feature fully electrified superstructures capable of operating up to five hours on battery power and up to 20 hours when connected to the grid. These cranes also support HVO 100 fuel, reducing travel-related CO₂ emissions by up to 90%.
Manitowoc is also expanding its sustainable offerings in the tower crane category, with models like the Potain Igo M 24-19, designed for enhanced energy efficiency.
Improving Efficiency and Performance
A number of Manitowoc cranes at bauma 2025 will demonstrate advances in lifting performance, transport ease, and jobsite efficiency. The Potain Hup M 28-22 and Igo M 24-19 are built for rapid deployment and compact transport, streamlining operations on smaller jobsites. Making its tradeshow debut is the Potain MR 309, engineered for congested urban environments and designed using Manitowoc’s Voice of the Customer (VOC) feedback process. It features easier assembly and a minimized out-of-service radius.
To further support operational efficiency, new automated boom and wire lubrication kits will be introduced for Grove cranes, along with an updated hydraulic pin system for quicker assembly of Potain tower masts.
Enhancing Connectivity and Control
Smart technology will take center stage through Grove CONNECT™ and Potain CONNECT™, platforms that allow real-time fleet management, crane diagnostics, and wireless Crane Control System (CCS) updates. These tools enable users to remotely assess and troubleshoot issues before dispatching technicians, saving valuable time and reducing downtime.
Also debuting at bauma is the ProTECHtor™ remote control system for CCS-enabled Potain cranes. This tool gives technicians full control of the crane during maintenance, including the ability to start and stop the crane and control speed modes. Integrated audio-visual alerts improve safety by notifying nearby personnel of crane activity during service.
Lifecycle Support and Aftermarket Expansion
Manitowoc’s dedication to product lifecycle support will be visible across several aftermarket initiatives. The EnCORE remanufacturing program offers crane refurbishment to OEM specifications, extending asset life and offering new one-year warranties. The Certified Used program provides customers with high-quality used cranes as a cost-effective alternative to new equipment, ensuring fleet growth without compromising performance.
A New Era for Manitowoc at bauma 2025
Across a 3,300 m² booth space featuring 12 cranes, Manitowoc will not only highlight new machines but also present a broader strategy focused on sustainability, smart technologies, and full lifecycle customer support. The event marks a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution, demonstrating how Manitowoc continues to anticipate and meet the needs of a dynamic lifting industry.
