New model features 70m jib, 6t tip load, advanced slack rope system, and torque-controlled slewing

Terex Tower Cranes has launched the CTL 702-32, a next-generation 32-tonne luffing jib tower crane that blends raw lifting power with precision control and improved safety features. Designed for demanding urban job sites and modular construction, the crane reflects a growing industry shift toward smarter, faster, and more user-centric lifting solutions.

Lifting Performance and Reach

The CTL 702-32 is equipped with a 70-metre luffing jib and a tip load capacity of 6 tonnes, making it a serious contender for high-rise and infrastructure projects requiring heavy material handling with minimal footprint. The crane also offers a competitive freestanding height of up to 90 metres, thanks to a wider base tower and transition section—ideal for congested or high-altitude jobsites.

Engineered for Safer Operation

From the outset, safety has been central to the CTL 702-32’s design. The crane features protective enclosures and integrated handrails to prevent falling objects and improve technician safety during operation, maintenance, and assembly. A standout addition is the slack rope system, which maintains continuous tension and prevents dangerous rope slack conditions that could lead to load instability.

Smarter, Faster Assembly

The crane’s erection and dismantling process has been streamlined with standardized pins and bolts, fewer tools, and smart-assisted assembly solutions. Much of the crane’s assembly occurs at ground level, reducing risk and improving speed.

Maintenance is also simplified. The CTL 702-32 features fewer cables and connectors, thanks to an optimized connector design that reduces clutter and troubleshooting time for electrical systems.

Precise Control with T-Line and T-Torque

Two key innovations support Terex’s push for better lifting precision: the T-Line system and T-Torque inverter technology. The T-Line ensures consistent load height during jib luffing, allowing precise placement even when working at full radius or during complex lifts. Meanwhile, T-Torque gives operator-adjustable torque control, enhancing slewing smoothness and response.

This level of fine control translates to safer operations, less downtime, and increased overall jobsite productivity—especially in urban areas where accuracy matters just as much as power.

Designed with Crews in Mind

Speaking at the launch, Lee Maynard, global sales director at Terex Tower Cranes, emphasized the human-centric approach behind the CTL 702-32:

“Our goal is to deliver not only cutting-edge technology but also real solutions to the challenges faced by construction teams on the ground. We’ve designed the CTL 702-32 to help operators work faster, safer, and smarter.”

Product Manager Angelo Cosmo added:

“Every feature, from the advanced slack rope system to the torque control and simplified assembly, was designed with the end user in mind. This crane is an investment in safer, more efficient construction around the world.”
