Liebherr to Debut 300-Tonne LR 1300.2 SX Unplugged Electric Crawler Crane at bauma 2025

Liebherr Unveils 300-Tonne LR 1300.2 SX Unplugged Electric Crawler Crane at bauma 2025

New battery-powered model delivers 13 hours of zero-emission lifting with 196 m max system length and advanced safety features

Liebherr will expand its electric crawler crane portfolio at bauma 2025 with the launch of the 300-tonne LR 1300.2 SX Unplugged, the largest model in the manufacturer’s ‘Unplugged’ series of battery-powered cranes to date. Featuring a powerful 438 kW electric motor and a 392 kWh battery pack, the LR 1300.2 SX Unplugged is designed for heavy-duty lifting with zero emissions, extended runtime, and no compromise on performance.

Electric Power with Full Operational Flexibility

The LR 1300.2 SX Unplugged can operate for up to 13 hours on battery power, while also remaining fully functional during charging. Depending on the available power source, full recharge time ranges from 4.5 to 8.5 hours. The crane features AC charging capability, and its design maintains nearly identical lifting performance to its diesel equivalent.

Configurable Lifting Capabilities

The crane offers seven different boom configurations, including:

  • Main boom length: Up to 110 meters
  • Maximum system length: 196 meters (83 m main boom + 113 m luffing jib)
  • Model at bauma: 20 m main boom + 20 m jib (shortest possible setup)
  • Optional equipment: 30 m derrick boom and 120 tonnes of suspended counterweight

These configurations can be optimized using Liebherr’s Crane Planner 2.0 software, which helps operators simulate and select the most effective boom setups for complex project demands.

Safety Systems and Site Adaptability

The LR 1300.2 SX Unplugged integrates a comprehensive suite of advanced safety features, including:

  • Ground pressure display system, with wide track pads reducing ground pressure by up to 56%
  • Gradient travel aid for slope navigation with real-time monitoring
  • Barge/floating mode, including load charts for off-level conditions (0–3° tilt)
  • Boom up/down assistant for controlled deployment
  • Vertical line finder to minimize side loading and prevent rope misalignment

The crane’s intelligent control system continuously displays real-time data on grade, center of gravity, and load moment protection, especially critical for floating and slope-based operations.

Clean Power for Demanding Environments

“The LR 1300.2 SX Unplugged is not just an electric alternative—it’s a full-featured, heavy-lifting solution for environmentally conscious job sites,” said a Liebherr spokesperson. “With extended operation on battery power, floating mode capabilities, and a full range of boom configurations, it is ideal for large infrastructure and energy sector projects.”

As with other models in the Unplugged line, the 300-tonne crane is designed for urban construction, offshore barge work, and sustainability-driven sites, where noise and emissions reduction are high priorities.

The LR 1300.2 SX Unplugged will be exhibited at the Liebherr stand at bauma 2025, scheduled for April 7–13 in Munich, Germany.
