Konecranes, a global leader in the crane and lifting industry, has significantly expanded its reach in the port services sector through the acquisition of Kocks Kranbau GmbH, a renowned German crane and service supplier. This strategic move, completed in April, enhances Konecranes’ capabilities and extends its access to new customers across Europe and globally. The financial details of the transaction remain confidential.

Kocks Kranbau GmbH was launched in early 2023 after the insolvency of its parent company, Kocks Ardelt Kranbau GmbH, which had a long-standing reputation as a prominent manufacturer of port and shipyard cranes. The company operates primarily out of Bremen, Hamburg, and Oberhausen and has proven to be profitable with annual net sales reaching approximately EUR 10-12 million.

This acquisition not only brings approximately 60 skilled employees into the Konecranes fold but also provides the company with a substantial installed base of Kocks Ardelt Kranbau’s equipment in Germany and other global markets.

Paolo Dazi, Senior Vice President of Port Services at Konecranes, commented on the acquisition: “I am confident that Kocks Kranbau’s expertise and customer proximity, combined with Konecranes Port Services’ widespread presence, industry knowledge, and technology, will significantly strengthen our position and offerings as a global service provider in the port sector.”

This acquisition is expected to enhance Konecranes’ service capabilities and reinforce its commitment to providing state-of-the-art technology and services to the port operations industry worldwide.
