Konecranes is continuing its strong momentum in Spain, securing a major order from CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal for seven hybrid Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes. This new deal, booked in February 2025, will see the delivery of state-of-the-art hybrid cranes to the Port of Valencia in March 2026.

This latest investment adds to CSP Valencia’s existing fleet of 11 Konecranes hybrid RTGs, reinforcing the port operator’s commitment to sustainability in container handling. With Konecranes’ advanced hybrid drive technology, these RTGs significantly cut fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, moving the port one step closer to zero-emission operations.

Boosting Efficiency & Safety at the Port of Valencia

Beyond sustainability, these next-generation hybrid RTGs come packed with cutting-edge features:
Active Load Control (ALC) – Enhances stability and precision in cargo handling.
Gantry Collision Prevention – Reduces the risk of accidents on-site.
Truck Lift Prevention – Improves operational safety when loading and unloading.

Gustavo Ferrer Soriano, General Manager at CSP Iberian Valencia, emphasized the longstanding partnership with Konecranes and the company’s role in shaping the future of modern ports:

“This investment is another important step in our journey towards zero tailpipe port operations. Konecranes’ hybrid technology is the solution that modern ports need.”

Konecranes’ Growing Footprint in Spain

With a strong presence in the Iberian Peninsula, Konecranes is actively supporting port operators in their shift to greener operations. This marks the third major agreement in the region in 2025, reflecting the rising demand for hybrid technology in port operations.

Darryn Scheepers, EMEA Sales Director, Konecranes, Port Solutions, highlighted the industry shift:

“More and more ports are transitioning to sustainable solutions. The growing adoption of our hybrid drive technology proves that you can achieve both high operational efficiency and sustainability goals at the same time.”

This contract aligns with Konecranes’ Ecolifting initiative, a vision to increase positive environmental impact while reducing carbon footprints. From eco-optimized diesel drives to fully electrified fleets, Konecranes continues to lead the way in sustainable port solutions.

As the material handling industry moves towards a greener future, Konecranes remains at the forefront, combining innovation, technology, and efficiency to reshape global port operations.
