A mid-range Palfinger owned by Hilton Haulage – was lifting nets on an open road in the port area on 18 August when it overturned. The outriggers were retracted on the side of the tip, but it is possible that they came in as the crane went over. A car was struck by the demised loader crane in Timaru, on South Island, New Zealand.
Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident, and the car, owned by a Hilton employee, was parked and not occupied at the time. The road was however blocked for some time while the recovery was carried out.
An investigation was conducted on the accident.
