On August 16, the first wind turbine of the Xinjiang Mulei County 2.5 GW Wind Power Project was successfully installed using a XCMG XGC15000A crawler, setting a new record in the renewable energy industry by completing the first turbine installation just 60 days after construction began.
At the Laojunmiao South Wind Farm site in Mulei County, part of the State Power Investment Corporation’s (SPIC) 300 MW wind power project, a large crane hoisted the wind turbine and blades to a height of 100 meters. The installed wind turbine tower stands 110 meters tall, with a rotor diameter of 204 meters. The total weight of a single unit is 484.55 tons, and the maximum swept area exceeds 32,700 square meters, equivalent to the area of 4.5 standard football fields. Each turbine can generate 93.3 kWh of electricity per minute.
Tong Xinqiang, Party Secretary and Chairman of SPIC Xinjiang Mulei New Energy Co., Ltd., stated that the 300 MW wind power project involves an investment of 1.15 billion yuan. Upon completion, the project is expected to generate 700 million kWh of electricity annually, saving 219,800 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2,560 tons per year. The completion of the project will significantly contribute to the green development of Mulei County.
The Xinjiang Mulei County 2.5 GW Wind Power Project is a joint effort by seven companies: SPIC, Xinjiang Energy, Changji Guotou, Xinjiang Huadian, China Coal Mulei, Xinjiang Shuangjie, and JinHong Power. The project involves a total investment of 8.2 billion yuan, covers an area of 762,000 mu, and plans to install 372 wind turbines.
