According to the police, Shinya Sato (57), who lives in Usami, Ito City, was operating a crane truck to pull a utility pole from the ground, when he was caught between the lifted utility pole and the crane truck.
Mr. Sato was rescued by his colleague and taken to the hospital, but he was confirmed dead about two and a half hours later.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident in detail, including interviewing colleagues who were at the scene at the time.
