Pacific Osprey Boom arrives in Esbjerg

Pacific Osprey New Boom Arrived !

Wiebke, a Hamburg registered SAL vessel was tasked to transport the new boom for the Swire Blue Ocean heavy lift vessel, Pacific Osprey from China to Esbjerg, Denmark.

The shipping arrangements were set up by Blue Water Shipping under contract to Swire Blue Ocean. Over the weekend of 23nd and 23th February, the vessel arrived in Esbjerg and discharged, waiting for installation.

The new crane boom was contracted to NOV’s manufacturing yard in China. The crane boom was successfully loaded onto the vessel on 21st Jan 2020 and sailed on 22nd Jan 2020.

Swire Blue Ocean expects Pacific Osprey to be back in service by 1st May 2020.

Pacific Osprey’s Accident (2018)

Pacific Osprey had an accident whilst berthed alongside in Eemshaven, Holland on 23rd August 2018. A box section of the crane boom on Pacific Osprey collapsed onto the deck adjacent to the bridge. Four crews were injured with one in serious condition, one other crew member suffered from shock. The crane was undergoing maintenance at the time of the incident and the vessel has suffered significant damage as a result.
