Versatile, powerful, and designed for demanding applications, the new 6220 E bridges the gap in SENNEBOGEN’s upper-size class

At bauma 2025, SENNEBOGEN will unveil the latest addition to its HD duty cycle crane range: the SENNEBOGEN 6220 E. With a 220-ton load capacity and a maximum boom length of 74.7 meters, the new model offers exceptional performance, flexibility, and safety across a broad spectrum of heavy-duty applications.

With over 73 years of experience in the development of duty cycle cranes, SENNEBOGEN has engineered the 6220 E to fill the gap between the 140-ton 6140 E and the 300-ton 6300 E, bringing a robust and highly adaptable solution to market.

Modular Design for Diverse Applications

Designed for maximum configurability, the 6220 E offers a modular setup tailored to multiple operational needs. Customers can select between a 563 kW or 708 kW Stage V engine, depending on power requirements. The crane supports a wide range of attachments and ballast configurations, enabling it to serve as either a traditional crane or heavy-duty excavator.

Its robust build makes it particularly suited for offshore operations and dredging, performing reliably even under extreme conditions and on inclines of up to 4 degrees with the higher power configuration.

A variety of hydraulic packages and winch options are available, including 30 t or 35 t free-fall winches, dual 20 t winches, and even a 6 t tagline winch delivering 60 kN of tractive force for high-precision grab work. It can also be equipped for dragline, diaphragm wall, breaker, vibrator, or drop ball applications, with optional pipework connections for enhanced customization.

Superior Load Handling and Rope Capacity

The 6220 E offers high load capacities in both grab and lifting modes. Thanks to the increased rope capacity on the first layer, the crane can operate effectively at greater depths without compromising on maximum winch tensile force (350 kN). This design choice also minimizes rope wear.

A notable innovation is the use of aramid guy ropes instead of steel, significantly reducing boom weight. Additionally, dual slewing drives provide a combined slewing torque of 585 kN, supporting stable and precise operation.

Operator-Focused Cabin and Safety Features

Operator comfort and safety are key priorities in the 6220 E. The crane is equipped with the spacious, ergonomically designed Maxcab, which tilts 20° as standard and can be optionally configured with a 2.0-meter hydraulic cab elevation, ideal for dredging work.

Safety is enhanced through a standard boom height safety device, revised uppercarriage access systems, optional walkways and railings, and improved step gratings. Remote-controlled assembly and reeving functions improve both ease and safety during setup and maintenance.

Intelligent Control with SENCON Load Control (SLC)

The 6220 E introduces SENNEBOGEN’s new SLC – SENCON Load Control system, a dedicated lifting control platform designed for intuitive use. Developed to automotive standards, SLC displays key lifting parameters and real-time ground pressure on a separate touch interface, while diagnostic functions remain accessible through the existing SENCON system.

Starlifter Undercarriage and Self-Assembly Capability

The crane’s Starlifter undercarriage offers superior stability with a 6400 mm track width and 9280 mm running gear length, supported by 1000 mm flat track shoes. For increased balance, additional undercarriage ballast can be installed.

During transport, the undercarriage components can be disassembled to reduce the transport weight to approximately 65 tons. Reassembly is streamlined using a radio-controlled self-assembly system, reducing setup time and labor.

Live Demonstration at bauma 2025

SENNEBOGEN will exhibit the 6220 E equipped with a mechanical two-rope grab for dredging and slewing applications at its outdoor stand FM.712 during bauma 2025, held April 7–13 at the Munich Trade Fair.
