Bangladeshi worker, 40, dies after getting hit by falling steel frame at Pioneer worksite

A Bangladeshi construction worker tragically lost his life on August 16 during a crane lifting operation when a steel frame fell and struck him.

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) confirmed to Mothership that the incident took place at a worksite located at 14 Benoi Sector in Pioneer, around 4:15 p.m.

During the crane operation, a steel frame structure fell and hit the 40-year-old worker, leading to his death.

Worker Pronounced Dead at the Scene The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the police, who were alerted to the accident at approximately 4:50 p.m., reported that a 40-year-old man was found unresponsive and was declared dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

Preliminary police investigations do not indicate any foul play, but further investigations are ongoing.

MOM Launches Investigation MOM emphasized that all lifting operations must adhere to established safety plans and that loads should never be lifted over people. The ministry is currently investigating the incident and has ordered the occupier to suspend all lifting activities at the site.

The occupier of the site is SH Design & Build Pte Ltd, with Range Construction Pte Ltd serving as the employer. The project’s developer is TL Development (WG2) Pte Ltd.
