On August 17, China Nuclear Engineering Corporation successfully completed the lifting operation of the SC structure module for levels 11 to 12 of the No. 3 nuclear island at Sanmen Nuclear Power Phase II using the 2,600-ton Lampson LTL2600 crane.

The module, assembled as a complete unit, measures approximately 6.9 meters in height and weighs around 617 tons, comprising 24 sub-modules. After being assembled at the fabrication site, the module was transported to the lifting site using transport vehicles. The Lampson LTL2600 crane then hoisted it into place at the designated spot within the containment building. This lift was particularly challenging due to the need to maneuver the module over the CV4R structure, requiring significant lifting height and precise management to avoid interference with other existing modules.

The lifting process was conducted safely and efficiently, marking a significant milestone in the construction of the Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant. This successful operation has paved the way for the subsequent installation of critical modules and equipment, such as the top head, and has established a solid foundation for the continued progress of the nuclear island construction.
