On August 13, the No. 4 cracking furnace B radiation chamber of the Tarim 1.2 million tons/year Phase II Ethylene Project, located at Dushanzi Petrochemical, was successfully hoisted in a single lift. This marks the fifth successful lift of a cracking furnace radiation chamber by the China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corporation’s Sixth Construction Company, following the successful installation of the No. 1 and No. 5 cracking furnaces. The successful completion of this lifting task signifies another step forward towards achieving the project’s construction goals.
The lifting of the No. 4 cracking furnace B radiation chamber is the fifth such lift within the project. The radiation chamber measures 33.83 meters in length, 4.06 meters in width, and has a net weight of 193 tons, with an actual lifting weight of 219 tons. To ensure the precision and safety of the lifting operation, the project team meticulously studied the lifting plan and conducted thorough technical and safety briefings for all construction personnel.
The lifting operation utilized an Zoomlion 800-ton crawler crane as the main crane, in conjunction with 320-ton and 120-ton crawler cranes in a “three-machine coordinated” lifting method. At 9:37 AM, the three cranes lifted the radiation chamber to a height of 500 millimeters, allowing the corrosion protection team to complete touch-up painting on the contact surface between the pedestal and the bottom of the chamber. The official lifting operation commenced at 9:57 AM, and with careful coordination among the three cranes, the No. 4 cracking furnace B radiation chamber was seamlessly positioned onto its foundation at 11:15 AM.
Since the commencement of the project, the Tarim project team has demonstrated strong responsibility and commitment through their actions. By continuously optimizing the construction organization plan, the team has focused on management innovation and efficiency improvement. The advantages of “modular installation” have been fully utilized, minimizing work at height and reducing various safety risks, ensuring that the project’s safety, quality, and progress remain under control.
The Tarim Phase II Ethylene Project, with a total investment of 29 billion yuan, is a key project in the 14th Five-Year Plan of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The project includes the construction of a 1.2 million tons/year ethylene unit, two 450,000 tons/year full-density polyethylene units, a 300,000 tons/year low-density polyethylene unit, and a 450,000 tons/year polypropylene unit, for a total of 11 major production units. Additionally, the project will include the construction of a green low-carbon demonstration project, reflecting a strong commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. The ethylene unit, as the “flagship” of the entire site, consists of seven cracking furnaces, including two gas furnaces and five liquid furnaces, with each cracking furnace comprising two radiation chambers.
