A company in Odate City, Akita Prefecture, along with other collaborators, has developed a specialized crane for offshore wind turbines, which was showcased at Japan’s largest wind power exhibition, WIND EXPO, in Tokyo.

This “davit crane,” developed by Toko Tekko, a local industrial machinery manufacturer, and Sekigahara Seisakusho from Gifu Prefecture, is designed to transport equipment from ships to offshore wind turbines.

This initiative marks the first attempt at domestic production of such cranes, aiming to secure orders for the burgeoning offshore wind power projects off the coast of Akita, where over 100 turbines are planned.
