- Hungarian company Mamut Daru Kft. takes delivery of Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1 mobile crane
- 450-tonne crane is characterised by its 85-metre telescopic boom
- Mamut Daru values a young fleet with state-of-the-art crane technology
Mamut Daru Kft. has taken delivery of a new LTM 1450-8.1. It is now the fourth new Liebherr telescopic crane this year. The 450-tonne crane is now the most powerful crane in the fleet of the Hungarian company, which specialises in the rental of mobile and tower cranes.
Csaba Balogh, owner and managing director of Mamut Daru Kft. is proud to own one of the youngest crane fleets in Hungary. This year, it has already taken delivery of a Liebherr LTR 1100 telescopic crawler crane as well as the LTM 1230-5.1 and LTM 1300-6.3 mobile cranes. In November, he travelled to the Liebherr manufacturing plant in Ehingen to pick up his latest flagship, an LTM 1450-8.1. The 450-tonne machine is now the largest crane his company has.
450-tonne fast-erecting crane
The LTM 1450-8.1 is characterised by an 85 metre telescopic boom. If greater height is required, a folding jib can be installed quickly, whilst a fixed jib or luffing jib can also be attached. The Liebherr 8-axle crane has been designed for worldwide cost-effective mobility and fast, easy set-up on site. This large fast-erecting crane is capable of travelling on public roads with a 12-tonne axle load carrying its complete telescopic boom, all its outriggers and the complete hoist winch. This enables it to be prepared for use very quickly once it reaches the site. With its time-testing technology such as the infinitely variable hydraulically adjustable VarioBallast®, VarioBase®, the single-engine concept or ECOmode and ECOdrive, makes this crane the state of the art in crane technology.
Balogh anticipates great demand for his new crane in Hungary: “Many new factories are being built. There is strong demand for steel construction projects where large crane radii are required. We are also planning to use the LTM 1450-8.1 for the assembly of tower cranes. In addition, many buildings in Budapest are now taller than 70 metres. The long boom of the LTM 1450-8.1 is perfect here. And we also feel that our customers expect the latest crane technology from us.”
State-of-the-art crane fleet
Balogh therefore attaches great importance to having a fleet of state-of-the-art vehicles. He founded his company in 2004 in Eger, around 130 kilometres north-east of the capital Budapest. Today, Mamut Daru operates 63 tower cranes and 15 mobile cranes with 75 employees. Ten of the mobile cranes are from Liebherr. Until 2017, Balogh bought used mobile cranes; since then, he has opted for brand-new equipment. “If the crane can’t work, the entire construction site comes to a standstill. Liebherr cranes are very reliable and retain their value particularly well. The service provided here in Hungary is excellent. We greatly appreciate the support from Pointed, Liebherr’s service partner in Hungary. We will continue to increase the proportion of Liebherr machinery in our fleet in the future. We always want the latest technology. We have therefore already placed orders for two more LTM 1230-5.1s and one LTM 1300-6.3,” says Balogh.
