Manitowoc M-250T
The Manitowoc M-250T is a powerful lattice boom truck-mounted crane with robust lifting capability and proven reliability. Based on Manitowoc’s widely recognized M-250 crawler crane upperworks, it integrates this on a wheeled 8×6 carrier, offering the flexibility and mobility of a truck crane with the heavy-duty lifting prowess of a crawler.

Product Description
The Manitowoc M-250T brings together the best of both worlds—truck crane mobility and crawler crane lifting performance—through its design that merges the M-250’s proven upperworks with an 8×6 carrier powered by a Caterpillar 3406B DITA diesel engine, producing 450 HP at 1,900 rpm. The engine drives a multi-hydraulic-pump transmission and supports an independent engine module for the crane’s superstructure, ensuring efficient operation without compromising lifting speed or smoothness.
The upperworks rests on a fabricated steel rotating bed, incorporating the FACT™ system (Fast Aligning Connection Technology) for rapid assembly and transport. The basic boom is the No. 44A type, consisting of 70 feet of heavy-duty boom sections. The system is expandable with inserts of 20 ft, 30 ft, and 40 ft, with options for long-reach top sections and whipline sheaves. Maximum versatility is achieved with Jib No. 132, allowing up to 60 ft of offset jib configuration.
The drum system utilizes a split drum-shaft layout—left and right drums are independently powered via hydraulic motors with planetary gear reduction, offering variable displacement and smooth multi-speed control. Drum sizes include 18 ⅝”, 22 ½”, and 44 ⅝” diameter options, mounted on anti-friction bearings, with automatic and manual braking systems for operational safety.
On the carrier side, the truck is fitted with three axles driven and five axles steerable, with a 16 × 8 configuration. The carrier transmission is a 6-speed automatic with single-stage torque converter. Suspension uses a combination of hydraulic/pneumatic systems with leveling capabilities, providing enhanced roadability and stability under load. Steering includes an electronic control system (EPIC™) offering diagnostics, job memory, and crane operation monitoring.
Outriggers are hydraulic, arranged radially for rapid deployment and retraction. An air-cushioned boom stop system and liftover counterweight design (up to 177,600 lbs) enhance flexibility and transportability. The liftrcrane can be disassembled and transported via standard road trailers, with many removable modules to simplify logistics.
With its FACT-pin assembly, air-controlled drum clutches, and full hydraulic operation, the M-250T provides excellent usability across industrial, infrastructure, and heavy lift projects. It is well-suited for contractors who demand mobility, versatility, and the performance pedigree of Manitowoc’s lattice boom systems on a roadable platform.
