Liebherr 172 EC-B 8 Litronic

Liebherr has updated its 160 EC-B Flat-Top tower crane and has unveiled its successor, the 172 EC-B 8 Litronic. The lifting capacity of the tower crane has been increased and the erection process has been simplified as well. The redesign of 172 EC-B 8 Litronic increase lifting capacity by 15% when using the full length of the jib. The tower crane can hoist a maximum load of 2,100kg at the jib head at a working radius of 60 metres and offers a maximum of 8 tonnes lifting capacity. This translate into an increase of 250 kg at the jib head over its predecessor.

Product Description

The modular concept and compatibility of the tower systems among both models allows the crane to be suitable for a wide range of application. With the Liebherr 120 HC, 170 HC or 256 HC tower systems, it can achieve a free-standing height under hook of up to 71.4 metres.

One of the other new features is the new erection concept of the jib. The hook and trolley remain on the jib pivot section during transportation, eliminating erection works needed for the trolley. The hoist and trolley travelling ropes can also be reeved easily with little effort, providing massive benefits particularly for jib erection in the air. Improvement on quick release fastenings and electrical connections on the cab and switchboard platform allow the compact head to be split quickly to reduce the erection weights.

The tower crane has a Liebherr 37 kW frequency converter hoist gear in its basic version and allows hook speed to reach 135 m/min when there is no load. A 45 kW converter hoist is gear is also available as an option. The frequency converter hoist gear is only used in 2-line mode. Hook heights of up to 328 metres and empty hook speeds up to a maximum of 177 m/min ensure that the crane is economical for use.
