Several people were injured in an accident at a construction site in Woodside, Queens, across East River from Manhattan, New York. on 7th Feb, Monday afternoon. The incident was reported at 46-01 37th Ave at 48th St just before noon.

The site is run by the city Department of Environmental Protection which said that the incident involved a dropped rebar container. The crane was a duty cycle crawler crane owned and operated by Walsh Construction. The cause appears to be the failure of a rope sling hooked to the container’s lifting lug, causing it to drop.

Five people working below were affected, but only one of them suffered any significant injuries. The incident is under investigation.

Below is the brief footage of the incident.
