  • Three new cranes in one fell swoop: Magdeburg-based crane service provider Bruns expanded its fleet in 2023
  • An LTM 1070-4.2 was replaced at the end of last year
  • Liebherr’s customer service covers all bases and was one of the main reasons for the purchase

Bruns Schwerlast GmbH purchased three new Liebherr cranes last year. In addition to an LTR 1100 and an LTM 1050-3.1, an LTM 1070-4.2 was recently added to the crane hire company’s fleet. Equipped with ECOmode and ECOdrive, the latter model is characterised by reduced fuel consumption and lower noise emissions.

Magdeburg-based company Bruns Schwerlast GmbH has taken delivery of an LTM 1070-4.2 telescopic mobile crane to renew its fleet. With the folding jib attached, the crane can achieve a maximum lifting height of 65 metres, while the variable VarioBase® support base ensures greater performance and increased safety during use. The active, speed-dependent rear-axle steering also makes the crane highly manoeuvrable. And because this four-axle vehicle carries most of its ballast during on-road driving, it is immediately ready for use on arrival at the construction site.

The new crane has replaced an existing LTM 1070-4.2 in the crane hire company’s portfolio and will be used for a wide variety of projects – primarily involving concrete and steel assembly work, as well as the construction of prefabricated houses, repair work on biogas plants and railway carriage repairs. Mario Naumann emphasised the reliability of the Liebherr equipment: “As a crane driver, I have had very good experiences with the LICCON2 control system and VarioBase® in the past, and the new crane offers us more of the same.” Managing Director Frank Bruns added: “The top service and the availability of spare parts were also decisive criteria for the purchase. Our collaboration with Liebherr has always worked well so far.”

All good things come in threes

The new LTM 1070 is one of three Liebherr cranes that Bruns has purchased last year. Alongside an LTR 1100 and an LTM 1050-3.1, the 70-tonner completes the trio. In addition to the three new cranes, the Magdeburg-based company also has four other cranes weighing up to 250 tonnes on five axles in its fleet – all from Liebherr. “We have been convinced by Liebherr’s quality as their customer for around 30 years,” says Bruns. In 1991, he founded Bruns Schwerlast GmbH in Magdeburg, which today employs 25 people.
