Potain tower cranes help construct new Serbian development

Six Potain tower cranes are helping construct a unique development in Serbia’s capital city, Belgrade. The development, named Belgrade Waterfront, is the first of its kind in the country and will see 1.8 million sq. m added to the city’s riverfront. It will feature over 6,000 residencies, as well as offices, hotels, shopping malls and more.

The cranes on-site include two self-erecting cranes– an HD 40 A and an Igo T 85A – and four top-slewing cranes – an MDT 109, an MDT 178 and two MDT 219. All are working on the new Belgrade Waterfront Residences, a development of 296 apartments spread between two 20-story towers. Work on site is continuous, with materials needed 24/7.

Sebastian David, general manager at K.I.G.O., said the cranes were helping the project stay on track.

“This project is really ambitious, but we are getting great use from this mix of Potain cranes,” he said. “We are on track to meet all deadlines and the cranes offer the highest levels of productivity. We are proud to be associated with such a unique project.”

The cranes were supplied by K.I.G.O., Manitowoc’s distributor for Potain cranes in Serbia, and are working for main contractor Strabag. K.I.G.O. is the Serbian representative of FEROKOV, Manitowoc’s official dealer in Slovenia.

“With its wide crane fleet, logistics and skilled service team available 24/7, FEROKOV is the perfect partner that every supplier strives to have in their business network,” said Sabino Riefoli, sales manager for Manitowoc in Italy.
