Terex has launched the latest boom truck Crossover 8000 in Las Vegas CONEXPO in March 2014. The new crane comes with an 80 US ton (72.5 ton) capacity, the largest capacity boom truck available in North America presently. The superstructure features the previous Terex 780 truck crane with X-outriggers, mounted on a Freightliner chassis.
First Terex Crossover 8000 Boom Truck Delivered To Canada
Ontario, Canada-based crane rental company, Canadian Professional Crane, Inc (CP Crane) has purchased the first unit of Crossover 8000 though Terex distributor Cropac Equipment in 2014.
The crane’s superstructure is mounted on a 2014 Freightliner 114SD chassis, with a 38 metres fully powered four-section boom with a quick reeve boom head and a 10 to 17 metres offset jib. It also features an X-pattern outrigger design which eliminates the need for a front stabilizer jack, decreasing overall crane length and weight.
Terex mentioned that the Crossover 8000 combines the design of a truck crane with that of a boom crane, providing 360° load capacity ahead of any only boom truck in North America.
