Key Features & Benefits
The Demag AC 80-1 exemplifies the fusion of strength, efficiency, and mobility in the 80-ton all-terrain crane class. It’s constructed around a monobox main frame integrated with hydraulic outrigger boxes, delivering a rigid and durable base ideal for demanding lifts. Outfitted with four hydraulically telescoping outrigger beams and hydraulic jack legs, the crane ensures stable positioning on various terrain.
Powering this unit is a DaimlerChrysler OM 402 LA 8-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine, delivering 280 kW (380 hp) at 2100 rpm and a maximum torque of 1775 Nm at 1200 rpm. Fuel efficiency and emission standards are met with a 400-liter tank supporting prolonged operations. The crane features an Allison automatic transmission with a transfer case designed for off-road use, providing seamless power distribution across multiple drive configurations.
Its axle configuration, 8 x 6 x 6, includes planetary hubs on axles 1, 2, and 4, with hydropneumatic suspension that allows all axles to be hydraulically locked. Axle steering features dual-circuit semiblock mechanical systems, with sustained braking via engine exhaust and constant decompression. The dual-line air brake system and auxiliary parking brakes further enhance operational safety.
The superstructure is designed to perform demanding lifting operations with precision. It utilizes a hydraulic system with one variable-displacement axial piston pump and one fixed-displacement pump to enable four simultaneous functions. The hoist is powered by an axial piston hydraulic motor, featuring planetary reduction and spring-applied multi-disc brakes.
The 5-section telescopic boom extends from 11.1 meters to 51.2 meters using a single hydraulic cylinder under load. The crane can also be equipped with a top-set heavy-duty jib or a folding jib, both offering flexibility for various height and reach requirements. The counterweight system includes up to 8.1 tonnes fitted on the superstructure and 6.8 tonnes hydraulically stowed on the carrier.
The crane cab is ergonomically designed for comfort and visibility. It features an all-steel construction, sliding doors, large fold-out windscreen and windows, and complete instrumentation for operating all crane functions. Heating, programmable timers, and wiper systems are integrated for enhanced all-weather operability.
Electronic systems are integrated into the crane through a digital load indicator and Demag’s signature hydraulic servo control system, ensuring precise command over crane motions, pressure regulation, and safety operations.
Optional equipment further enhances the AC 80-1’s performance, including an additional hoist for dual-line operation, a heavy-lift runner, and counterweights tailored to heavier tasks. With its powerful capabilities and agile performance, the Demag AC 80-1 is a trusted workhorse for construction, infrastructure, and industrial lifting operations.
