Giken F201 Load Chart PDF + Specifications
The Giken Silent Piler F201 is a multi-purpose hydraulic press-in piling machine developed for 400 mm, 500 mm and 600 mm wide U-shaped sheet piles. Introduced in 2014, the F201 was designed as a versatile three-mode machine capable of Standard Press-in, Water Jetting and Super Crush hard-ground operation through interchangeable components. In Standard and Water Jetting modes it develops a maximum press-in force of 1,500 kN and extraction force of 1,600 kN, while Super Crush Mode provides 800 kN press-in force and 900 kN extraction force. The machine uses an 850 mm stroke, radio control and, in hard-ground configuration, a PA22 pile auger suitable for pile lengths up to 24 m as standard and 30 m in special mode. Hydraulic power is supplied by the EU300K4 diesel power unit, rated at 265 kW (360 PS) at 1,800 rpm in Power Mode, with lower-output Eco and Super Eco settings.

Key Features & Benefits
The Giken Silent Piler F201 is a versatile hydraulic pile press-in and extraction machine developed for a broad range of U-sheet pile construction. Giken introduced the model in 2014, with shipment beginning in the latter part of that year. A key feature of the F201 is its ability to handle three different U-sheet pile widths through component changes: 400 mm wide Types II, III and IV, 500 mm wide Types VL and VIL, and 600 mm wide Types IIw, IIIw and IVw. This wider pile compatibility distinguishes the F201 from smaller models intended primarily for 400 mm sheet piles.
The machine was developed as a multi-mode press-in system, allowing one basic unit to perform Standard Press-in, Water Jetting and Super Crush hard-ground installation. Standard Mode is intended for normal press-in conditions, while Water Jetting Mode assists penetration by introducing high-pressure water around the pile toe. Super Crush Mode combines hydraulic press-in with auger excavation and is intended for gravel, cobbles, boulders and other ground conditions where conventional static pressing alone may be insufficient. This modular concept allows contractors to adapt the machine to changing ground conditions without replacing the entire press-in unit.
In Standard Mode, the F201 develops a maximum press-in force of 1,500 kN, equivalent to approximately 153 tonnes, and a maximum extraction force of 1,600 kN, or about 163 tonnes. The same force ratings apply in Water Jetting Mode. The machine has an 850 mm stroke, with press-in speed ranging from approximately 1.4 to 30.0 m/min and extraction speed from 1.1 to 23.2 m/min. Operation is by radio control, allowing the operator to work from a position with good visibility of the pile and surrounding work area.
In Super Crush Mode, the machine is configured for hard-ground work and its operating characteristics change accordingly. Maximum press-in force is 800 kN, while maximum extraction force is 900 kN. Press-in speed is approximately 0.5 to 4.5 m/min, and extraction speed ranges from 1.1 to 9.4 m/min. The lower travel speeds reflect the much greater resistance encountered during auger-assisted penetration through difficult soil and rock-like material.
The hard-ground configuration uses the Giken PA22 pile auger. Standard applicable pile length is up to approximately 24 m, while a special configuration can accommodate piles up to about 30 m. The auger motor weighs about 1,850 kg. The casing auger assembly weighs approximately 9,050 kg for 400 mm sheet piles and around 10,050 kg for 500 and 600 mm sheet piles, giving complete auger-system masses of approximately 10,900 kg and 11,900 kg respectively.
Machine mass depends on both the pile width and installation method. In Super Crush configuration, the main body and hose reel weigh approximately 13,160 kg for 400 mm sheet piles and about 13,660 kg for 500 or 600 mm piles. The larger chuck and associated components required for the wider sheet piles account for the additional weight. The hose reel used for hard-ground operation is the HR17C, with a standard mass of approximately 2,810 kg including its bracket.
For Water Jetting work, the F201 can be paired with the JR28 Piler Jet Reel. This system is suitable for an applicable standard pile length of approximately 17 m, with a maximum of around 27 m, and the jet reel itself weighs about 820 kg. The Water Jetting configuration retains the F201’s higher 1,500 kN press-in and 1,600 kN extraction capacities, making it suitable where hydraulic pressing requires assistance but full auger excavation is unnecessary.
Hydraulic power is supplied by the separate crawler-mounted EU300K4 power unit. Its diesel engine produces approximately 265 kW (360 PS) at 1,800 rpm in Power Mode, 236 kW (321 PS) at 1,600 rpm in Eco Mode, and 206 kW (280 PS) at 1,400 rpm in Super Eco Mode. The unit carries approximately 600 litres of diesel fuel, a 630-litre Piler Eco Oil hydraulic reservoir and about 38 litres of urea additive. Travel speed is approximately 1.4 km/h, and the power unit weighs about 7,250 kg with 20 m of hydraulic hose.
The F201 also incorporates Giken’s electronic construction-management systems. It was introduced with the G-PAD information terminal and the updated GIKEN IT System, allowing press-in information, machine operating data, location and maintenance records to be collected and managed electronically. This was intended to support both construction quality control and preventive maintenance by making operating information available in real time and retaining machine history for later analysis.
Another important aspect of the F201 is its self-moving operating principle. Like other Silent Piler machines, it grips previously installed piles and uses them as the reaction base for pressing the next pile. This eliminates the need for a large conventional piling rig base and allows the machine to advance progressively along the pile wall. The system is particularly useful in restricted urban, riverbank and infrastructure sites where vibration, noise and working-space limitations are major concerns.
Overall, the Giken Silent Piler F201 is best described as a high-capacity multi-mode press-in machine for 400, 500 and 600 mm U-sheet piles, combining 1,500 kN standard press-in force, 1,600 kN extraction force, 800 kN Super Crush press-in capacity, an 850 mm stroke and compatibility with the PA22 hard-ground auger system. Its ability to change between conventional pressing, water-assisted installation and auger-assisted hard-ground operation makes it one of Giken’s more versatile Silent Piler models for civil engineering, retaining-wall, river, harbour and infrastructure construction.
