Giken SA75 Load Chart PDF + Specifications
The Giken Silent Piler SA75 is a compact hydraulic sheet-pile press-in and extraction machine from Giken’s Super Auto generation, introduced in 1995 together with the SA100 as part of a new automatic-operation system. Designed for U-shaped sheet piles including Types Ia, II, IIa, III, IIIa, IV and IVa, the SA75 develops a maximum press-in force of 750 kN and a maximum extraction force of 800 kN, with a 700 mm stroke. Press-in speed reaches up to 16.7 m/min, while extraction speed reaches up to 14.1 m/min. The machine is self-moving along the installed pile line and could be equipped with optional radio control. Hydraulic power is supplied by a separate turbocharged diesel power unit rated at 88 kW (120 PS) at 1,800 rpm or 95 kW (130 PS) at 2,000 rpm, while the Silent Piler itself weighs approximately 3,900 kg.

Key Features & Benefits
The Giken Silent Piler SA75 is an earlier-generation hydraulic press-in piling machine developed for low-noise and low-vibration installation and extraction of steel sheet piles. It was introduced in 1995 alongside the larger SA100 as part of Giken’s new automatic-operation generation, following earlier developments such as the AT90 and AT150. The SA75 continued Giken’s reaction-based press-in concept, in which the machine grips previously installed piles and uses their resistance as the reaction force needed to press the next pile into the ground.
The SA75 is suitable for U-shaped sheet piles Types Ia, II, IIa, III, IIIa, IV and IVa. Maximum press-in force is 750 kN, equivalent to approximately 76 tonnes, while maximum extraction force is 800 kN, or about 82 tonnes. The hydraulic press-in cylinder has a 700 mm stroke, making the machine smaller and lighter than the contemporary SA100 while still offering substantial pressing force for general sheet-piling work.
Press-in performance depends partly on engine operating speed. At 1,800 rpm, press-in speed ranges from approximately 4.5 to 16.7 m/min, while at 2,000 rpm it ranges from about 5.0 to 16.7 m/min. Extraction speed is approximately 4.8 to 14.1 m/min at 1,800 rpm and 5.3 to 14.1 m/min at 2,000 rpm. These figures reflect the SA75’s focus on relatively fast repetitive piling cycles in normal ground conditions.
The machine uses a self-moving system, allowing it to advance directly along the installed sheet-pile wall rather than requiring a conventional crawler base beneath the press-in unit. This is a major advantage in confined urban work, riverbanks, road corridors and other locations where conventional piling rigs would require significantly more working space. Optional radio control was available, allowing the operator to work from a position with better visibility of the pile and surrounding site.
The SA75 is relatively compact, measuring approximately 1,670 mm long, 930 mm wide and 2,140 mm high. Machine mass is about 3,900 kg, making it considerably lighter than the SA100. This compact size was particularly useful where access and transport limitations were important, while the reaction-based operating principle allowed the machine to generate high press-in force despite its modest physical size.
Hydraulic power is supplied by a separate turbocharged diesel power unit. Two engine ratings are listed: 88 kW (120 PS) at 1,800 rpm and 95 kW (130 PS) at 2,000 rpm. The power unit has a 200-litre fuel tank and a 400-litre hydraulic oil tank. Its standalone mass is approximately 3,100 kg, while total mass with the crawler and associated equipment is about 4,700 kg.
The power unit is crawler-mounted and uses two hydraulic pumps driving two hydraulic motors for movement. Travel speed is approximately 1.4 km/h, allowing the unit to relocate independently around the construction site while remaining connected to the Silent Piler by hydraulic hoses. The crawler itself weighs about 1,000 kg.
A separate arm-type reaction stand is used when required during initial piling work before enough sheet piles have been installed to provide the normal reaction base. The SA75 reaction stand measures approximately 2,680 mm long and 1,710 mm wide, with a mass of about 1,140 kg. Once a sufficient pile wall has been established, the machine can use the installed piles themselves as the reaction system and continue self-moving along the line.
The SA75 was also available with Giken’s Multi-Box, which consolidated tools and support equipment needed for sheet-piling work. This included a DC welding machine, gas-cutting equipment and standard maintenance tools, providing a compact support package for field operations. The Multi-Box weighed approximately 600 kg excluding gas cylinders.
Historically, the SA75 is significant because it formed part of Giken’s transition toward more automated Silent Piler operation. The SA75 and SA100 appeared in 1995 as the company’s new automatic-operation models, following the AT90 and AT150 introduced in 1991. Later ECO and F-series machines developed the concept further with improved environmental performance, more advanced electronic controls, modular construction and higher levels of automation.
Overall, the Giken Silent Piler SA75 is best described as a compact 75-tonne-class reaction-based hydraulic press-in machine with 750 kN press-in force, 800 kN extraction force, a 700 mm stroke and a turbocharged diesel power unit producing up to 95 kW. Its relatively low machine weight, self-moving operation and optional radio control made it well suited to confined sheet-piling projects where vibration, noise and available working space were important considerations.
