Grove GRT8100

The GRT8100 and GRT880 models made their debuts at Bauma 2016 as the first Grove cranes named GRT: Grove rough-terrain. They reflect the latest improvements brought about by the Product Verification Center (PVC), where components are tested far beyond their lifecycle to ensure quality and durability.

The Grove GRT8100 is a 100-ton rough terrain crane featuring a five-section MEGAFORM™ boom that extends from 39.4 feet to 154.3 feet (12 to 47 meters), with a maximum tip height of 237 feet (72.9 meters) when combined with an optional jib. It is powered by a Cummins QSB6.7L diesel engine, producing 270 hp. This crane is designed for heavy lifting, offering advanced controls, ECO mode for fuel efficiency, and excellent maneuverability in challenging terrains.

Product Description

The Grove GRT8100 is a powerful 100-ton rough terrain crane designed to perform in the most demanding environments. Equipped with a five-section, full-power MEGAFORM™ boom that extends from 39.4 feet to 154.3 feet (12 to 47 meters), the GRT8100 offers a maximum tip height of 171 feet (52.1 meters) with the main boom. When outfitted with the optional manual or hydraulic bi-fold swingaway jib, it can reach a maximum tip height of 237 feet (72.9 meters), providing extensive reach and flexibility for a variety of lifting operations.

The crane is powered by a Cummins QSB6.7L six-cylinder diesel engine, compliant with Tier 4 regulations, delivering 270 horsepower (201 kW) at 2200 RPM and 730 ft-lbs (990 Nm) of torque at 1500 RPM. This engine ensures ample power for both lifting and traveling across rough terrain, while the ECO mode feature helps optimize fuel consumption by intelligently managing power output.

The hydraulic system includes two pumps with a flow rate of up to 150 gallons per minute (568 L/min), allowing for smooth and efficient control of the boom and other crane functions. The boom itself operates with three extension modes for various lifting scenarios, and the crane can rotate 360 degrees with a maximum swing speed of 2 RPM, offering flexibility during complex operations.

For lifting, the main hoist provides a single-line pull of 15,876 pounds (7,200 kg) and a line speed of 459 feet per minute (140 meters per minute). The crane also has a load moment indicator (LMI) system, which ensures safe lifting operations by providing real-time data on the boom angle, length, and load weight.

The GRT8100 features four hydraulic outriggers with multiple extension positions for stable lifting on uneven ground, and its steering modes include 4-wheel, 2-wheel, and crab steering for superior mobility in tight spaces. The crane’s chassis is built from high-strength steel, providing durability for long-term, heavy-duty use.

Inside the cab, operator comfort is prioritized with a fully enclosed, full-vision design that tilts up to 20 degrees for better visibility at high boom angles. The Crane Control System (CCS) offers a user-friendly interface with dual graphic displays and a jog dial for easy navigation. Additionally, the cab is equipped with climate control, adjustable seats, and ample visibility for safe and efficient operation.

With its combination of powerful lifting capacity, advanced control features, and versatile boom configurations, the Grove GRT8100 is a top-performing rough terrain crane that excels in demanding industrial and construction projects .
