On 15 April 2014 Terex unveiled their largest luffing tower crane, CTL1600-66, a 1,600 ton/metre with a maximum capacity of 66 ton. The luffing tower crane was unveiled at a customer event at Terex test facility near Fontanafredda in Italy. CTL1600-66 has a maximum capacity which is almost 50 per cent more than its previous range topper, lifting 16 ton at the end of its 75-metre maximum jib tip. The previous largest luffer in Terex fleet, CTL650F-45 has a maximum capacity of 45 ton and can lift 7 tonnes at its maximum 65-metre radius. Terex’s UK dealer, Select Plant, has ordered the first two production cranes (the first unit being the launch machine) which are thought to be heading for contracts in Manchester and London areas.
