On 9th May 2021 at 2 pm, Huaneng Shandong Peninsula South 4 offshore wind power project completed the installation of the first offshore wind turbine in Shandong province, marking a major milestone in the project.

About Shandong Peninsula South No. 4 Offshore Wind Farm

Huaneng Shandong Peninsula South No. 4 offshore wind power project is located in the southern waters of Haiyang City, Shandong province. It has a total installed capacity of 301.6 MW and 58 sets 5.2 MW wind turbines. The annual power generation is about 820 million kWh and the total investment is about RMB 5.545 billion (approx. US 862.65 million). It can save 253,000 tonnes of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 556,000 tonnes. This project is the first batch of offshore wind power demonstration projects in Shandong province, and it is planned to achieve full-capacity grid-connected power generation by the end of this year.

In March 2021, a single ship completed the construction of ten monoopiles for wind turbine foundation, setting a new record for the speed of wind turbine foundation piles for other similar projects

In April 2021, the components including tower, nacelle, rotor blades, rotor hub and other electrical components is prepared for the launching.

On 29th April 2021, China’s domestic most advanced wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV), vessel “Dejian” arrived in Haiyang and commenced on the wind turbine on 1st of May. The first turbine was successfully completed on 9th May 2021.
