Grúas Ibarrondo Has First LTM1650 In Spain

Spanish crane rental and heavy haulage company Grúas Ibarrondo has taken delivery of the first 650 tonne Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 All Terrain crane to be delivered in the country.

The eight axle LTM 1650-8.1 is available with both 54 and 80 metre telescopic booms as well as a 21 to 91 metre luffing jib and Y-guying system to offer hook heights of up to 151 metres.

Features include a Stage V diesel power source and Liebherr’s ECOdrive and ECOmode systems which claim to further reduce fuel consumption, noise and emissions. It also features the company’s VarioBase and VarioBallast systems. The crane will be used across a wide range of sectors including for public and private construction, as well as for industrial, port and wind farm applications.

Managing director Mikel Ibarrondo, said: “Purchasing this new Liebherr mobile crane is another step towards cementing our competitive position in our markets. The eight axle crane will be profitable for us thanks to its high technical development. And then there is also the fact that the concept behind the LTM 1650-8.1 is designed for sustainability in the form of its ECOdrive.”

Based in Bilbao, northern Spain, Grúas Ibarrondo runs a fleet of 66 cranes, the majority of which are from Leibherr, ranging from a 30 tonne LTM 1030-2.1 to a 750 tonne LTM 1750-9.1. It also offer transport and haulage services as well as a fleet of JLG boom and scissor lifts with working heights up to 49 metres.
