Manitowoc launches MLC150-1 crawler crane

Six Decades Strong: Antique Grove Rt Still Getting The Job Done

Manitowoc is definitely maximizing their exposure during ConExpo 2020 with the launching of yet another new model before the exhibition. The latest crane added to their line of products is the 150-tonne crawler crane, MLC150-1.

The Manitowoc MLC150-1 has new features that make it easier to transport to the job site and quicker assembly than its predecessors. It also features an upgraded cab for better operator comfort. The 150-tonne crawler crane is one of the several new cranes that Manitowoc Cranes has launched prior to ConExpo 2020 in March, where it will also unveil several other new cranes.

The MLC series of crawler cranes have been successful in North America, especially for their competitive load charts and job site manoeuvrability. The new 150-tonne crawler crane, MLC150-1, continues the momentum of its popular predecessor, the MLC100-1, increasing the capacity to 165 US t (150 t) and adding a host of several new features. The crawler has been designed to meet the needs of customers that desire a compact, manoeuvrable crawler crane with a strong load chart and easy transport.

“A big component of The Manitowoc Way is listening to exactly what our customers need and want in their cranes. We have had great feedback on the MLC100-1, so we based the new MLC150-1 on that model, but boosted the capacity for the 165 US t (150 t) class.”

“Users will really like the upgrades to the cab in the MLC150-1, while this crane has great capacity and reach for the 150 US t class, improved transport and erection efficiencies area always something users like to see.”

Brennan Seeliger, Product Manager at Manitowoc Cranes.

Specifications of MLC150-1

The Manitowoc MLC150-1 features a 165 US t (150 t) based capacity and a maximum boom length of 256 ft (78m). A fixed jib of 80 ft (24m) with a 29.5 US t (27 t) capacity is available for the crawler crane, and a 170 ft (52m) luffing jib with a capacity of 50.2 US t (46t) is another strong option for the job site.

Quicker Crane Assembly

The new crawler crane features quicker assembly than previous models as well. The boom butt mounted sheave enables self-assembly with the boom top, it features a button style rope termination, and a gantry-raised counterweight reduces components. The boom cap, jib butt and struts can be shipped as a single package for fewer connections. It’s also easier to transport as well. An increased hook height enables self-assembly with various trailer heights, and the crane is designed to be transported with minimal permitted loads.

As same as other cranes on its product line, the crawler is equipped with Manitowoc’s Crane Control System (CSS), which can found across Manitowoc’s crane ranges and provides commonality in operation and maintenance. Additionally, the left side console rotates for improved egress inside the cab.
