Six Potain cranes are helping in the construction of Ušće Tower 2 in Belgrade, Serbia. Located along the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, the new, luxurious skyscraper is being built next to the historic Ušće Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Serbia that were seriously damaged by air-strikes in 1999, during the Yugoslav War. Ušće Tower 2 will have a height of 104 m – 22 floors – and house modern office spaces and a restaurant on the top floor.

K.I.G.O., Manitowoc’s distributor for Potain cranes in Serbia, supplied the cranes that are working to complete the project. The Serbia-based Potain dealer has installed two Hup 40-30 self-erecting cranes, one Igo 36, one MD 125B tower crane and two MDT 219s on the worksite. K.I.G.O. is the Serbian representative of FEROKOV, Manitowoc’s official dealer in Slovenia.

“The Ušće Towers is an important symbol of the city, as it remained standing despite being struck by a missile,” said Sebastian David, manager of K.I.G.O. “We are very excited to help rebuild this historic area in Belgrade, which is now the landmark location site of the city’s central business district.”

K.I.G.O. previously deployed Potain cranes in the early 2000’s to repair the original Ušće Tower, which was reopened in 2005 after two years of reconstruction work.
