Product Description

The Demag AC 120-1 all-terrain crane is engineered for versatility and heavy lifting in confined spaces, standing out as one of the most powerful cranes in its class with a carrier width of just 2.75 meters. This five-axle crane offers a maximum lifting capacity of 120 metric tons, delivering exceptional performance in both on-road and off-road conditions.

Its telescopic main boom spans from 12.5 meters to a maximum of 60 meters, constructed with a robust yet lightweight design for superior strength-to-weight ratio. For extended reach, the AC 120-1 can be equipped with boom extensions ranging from 9.1 meters up to 33 meters, allowing a total maximum tip height exceeding 89 meters with the longest configuration. The crane’s boom elevates between -1.5° and +82°, providing versatile load handling angles.

Designed with compact dimensions, the carrier length measures just 11.17 meters, enabling easier positioning and setup in urban or restricted-access areas. The crane features speed-dependent rear axle steering, improving maneuverability and road stability, particularly useful when navigating narrow roads or congested job sites.

The AC 120-1 comes equipped with an advanced Demag IC-1 control system with touchscreen interface, delivering precise load monitoring, crane operation diagnostics, and integrated safety management functions. Standard safety features include overload protection, automatic counterweight detection, and outrigger monitoring systems.

The carrier is powered by a high-performance diesel engine (detailed specs depend on the year and region), coupled with a modern transmission providing smooth travel at speeds up to 85 km/h. It achieves a road-legal axle load of under 12 tons, including carrying 8.2 tons of counterweight on the crane, ensuring ease of transport without special permits in many regions.

The crane’s superstructure is designed for high lifting speed and operational efficiency: hoist winches provide speeds up to 145 meters per minute, with a maximum permissible line pull of 81 kN using 21 mm rope. Slewing operates at up to 1.7 rpm, with planetary gear reduction ensuring smooth rotation and precise control.

With its combination of lifting power, extended boom systems, advanced operator interface, and compact design, the Demag AC 120-1 remains a strong choice for bridge construction, tower erection, industrial installations, and general construction projects where reliability, reach, and maneuverability are critical.
