Key Features & Benefits
The SR-300R Premium was introduced as part of Kato’s long-running SR series of rough terrain cranes. Developed during the late 2000s period, the crane incorporated Kato’s EJIB (Easy Jib) system, a feature designed to significantly reduce the number of times operators needed to leave the cab during jib installation and setup. The model also introduced updated electronic control systems, improved safety monitoring, and a more ergonomic operator cabin, making it one of the more advanced 30-tonne rough terrain cranes available from Kato at the time.
The Kato SR-300R Premium was engineered to provide a balance of compact dimensions, lifting capability, and ease of operation. As a 30-tonne rough terrain crane, it was primarily targeted at construction sites where maneuverability and rapid deployment were critical. The crane’s compact carrier allows it to work efficiently in confined urban projects while still offering sufficient lifting capacity for structural steel erection, precast installation, industrial maintenance, and utility work.
At the heart of the crane is a four-section hydraulically telescoping rounded hexagonal boom. The boom extends from 9.35 m to 30.5 m and provides a maximum rated lifting capacity of 30 tonnes at a 3.0 m radius. The rounded hexagonal boom design enhances structural rigidity while minimizing boom weight, improving lifting performance throughout the working range. Maximum boom lifting height reaches approximately 31.2 m.
One of the crane’s most notable features is Kato’s EJIB system. Unlike conventional manually assembled jib arrangements, the EJIB system was designed to reduce operator involvement during setup. According to Kato, the number of times an operator needs to leave the cab during jib mounting procedures is reduced to only two. The hydraulic jib can be installed even when the boom is fully retracted, simplifying setup procedures and improving jobsite productivity. The jib provides working lengths from 8.7 m to 13.1 m and increases maximum lifting height to approximately 44.8 m.
The boom elevation system provides an operating range from approximately -3° to 83°, allowing the crane to perform both low-angle and high-angle lifting operations. Combined with the long boom and EJIB system, the crane offers excellent versatility across a wide range of lifting applications. A maximum boom tip height of approximately 30.5 m and jib tip height approaching 45 m make the SR-300R suitable for work around multi-story structures and industrial facilities.
The crane is equipped with a modern ACS touch-screen moment limiter system. This electronic rated capacity limiter provides real-time operational information and incorporates numerous safety functions to assist operators during lifting operations. The system continuously monitors crane configuration, working radius, load weight, and operating conditions, helping improve both safety and productivity.
Operator comfort received significant attention in the Premium version. The spacious cab offers excellent visibility and ergonomic controls. Electronic monitoring systems are integrated into the cabin environment, while optional equipment such as side-view cameras and wind speed monitoring systems further improve operational awareness. The crane was also available with K-COR, Kato’s operational data recording system, which stores working status information and assists with fleet management and maintenance tracking.
The SR-300R utilizes an H-type outrigger arrangement that provides multiple extension positions to adapt to varying site conditions. The outriggers can be deployed asymmetrically when required, allowing the crane to maintain lifting capability in confined areas where full outrigger extension is not possible. The maximum outrigger spread reaches approximately 6.6 m, contributing to stable lifting performance.
Additional features highlighted on the Premium model include LED combination rear lamps, LED headlamps with high and low beam selection, rear step warning indicators, optional side-view camera systems, an optional anemometer, and improved visibility enhancements. These upgrades reflected Kato’s effort to improve both safety and ease of operation compared with earlier generations of rough terrain cranes.
The SR-300R continued Kato’s reputation for producing compact rough terrain cranes that deliver strong lifting performance while remaining highly maneuverable. Its combination of a long four-section boom, advanced EJIB system, electronic safety controls, and compact carrier design made it a popular choice for contractors working in urban construction and industrial environments.
