The Boskalis 5,000t lift sheerleg crane, Asian Hercules III, and their Anchor Handling Tug Sapphire have completed 8 lifts of their project’s planned 16 bridge section lifts for the Çanakkale 1915 Bridge.
In 2019, Boskalis installed the foundations of the bridge pylons and carried out various lifting and transport operations of steel and concrrete bridge elements.
In 2019, the EPC contractor DLSY (Daelim – Limak – SK E&C – Yapi Merkezi) Joint Venture has rented two units of Favelle Favco M2480D HLL from Australian’s Marr Contracting for the works.
About 1915 Çanakkale Bridge
The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is due for completion in 2022 and will become the world’s longest span suspension bridge, connecting the towns of Gelibolu (Gallipoli) on the European side of Turkey with Lapseki on the Asian side. The span will be 2023 metres, surpassing the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge in Japan which is the current record holder at 1,991 metres. The total bridge length will be 4,608 metres and it will have a tower height of 318 metres.
