Kran Saller Erected Five Wind Turbines Dagebull

Heavy load contractor Kran Saller GmbH based in Deggendorf in Bavaria has erected five wind turbines at a wind farm in Dagebull, Germany, near the Danish border using a Liebherr LTM1750-9.1 nine-axle mobile crane.

Each wind turbine, manufactured by Senvion Wind Energy Solutions, has a capacity of 3.4 MW. Seven components had to be installed on each turbine. The heaviest component at 61 ton was the rotor star which had to be installed at a hub height of 80 metres.

The 750-tonne all-terrain crane, Liebherr LTM1750-9.1, hoisted the rotor star to a hook height of 90 metres with a radius of 20.5 metres. To tackle this job, the crane was configured with telescopic boom guying, 15 metres V2 telescopic boom extension, 35 metres luffing jib and 144 ton of counterweight.

The crane is increasingly replacing the legendary Liebherr LG1550 lattice boom mobile crane for such work which was used to erect and dismantle turbines

Saller operates 29 mobiles cranes, mostly supplied by Liebherr.
