The new XCMG650 has recently completed a one-crane lifting operation for “Qiangjiang” Shield Machine Cutter for Wangjiang Tunnel Project in Hangzhou. The Tunneling Boring Machiner (TBM) weights a total of 280 tonnes and the crawler crane completed in a series of lifting, tandem tilting and hoisting down into the shaft.

The XGC650 is by far largest capacity crane researched and manufactured by XCMG for shield machine hoisting. The 650-tonne crawler crane has been specially designed to carry out specialized hoisting of shield machines with a diameter of 15 metres and weight of 520 tonnes.

XCMG has also put in efforts in the development of the world’s first unique hoisting method which allows a single crane to hoist, tandem tilting and hoisting down of the shield machine down the shaft. It will be a perfect solution for sites that face space constraint and reduce rental and transportation cost for a tilting crane.

The 3.24 km tunnel, Wangjiang Road Tunnel project cost 2.5 billion yuan (US$ 391 million) to construct and will have two lanes on each carriageway. It is to relieve the traffic jams on Qiantang River Bridge No. 3 & No.4. The project is expected to be completed in 2019.
