Tadano ATF70-4
The Tadano ATF 70-4 is a 70-ton all terrain crane equipped with a 40.5-meter five-section boom and up to 16-meter jib extension. Designed with an 8×6 drivetrain and hydro-pneumatic suspension, it combines powerful lifting capabilities with advanced steering systems for outstanding all-terrain maneuverability.

Product Description
The Tadano ATF 70-4 is a 70-ton class all terrain crane designed for a balance of lifting capacity, maneuverability, and advanced control. Built on a torsion-resistant box-type welded steel frame, the crane features a 4-axle (8×6) carrier configuration, providing excellent off-road capability and road compliance. The hydro-pneumatic suspension system with levelling adjustment ensures stable operation even on uneven terrain.
At the core of its lifting system is a five-section telescopic main boom constructed of high-tensile, fine-grained steel. The boom extends hydraulically from 10.5 meters to 40.5 meters, with each section fully extendable under partial load. For additional reach, a swing-around jib extension from 9.0 to 16.0 meters is available, featuring variable offsets at 4°, 15°, or 30°, offering maximum boom flexibility for up-and-over or elevated lifts.
Powering the carrier is a Mercedes-Benz OM 501 LA 6-cylinder diesel engine (EURO 2 compliant), rated at 290 kW (394 HP) at 1800 rpm with 1850 Nm of torque. It is paired with an Allison HD 4060 P automatic transmission with a hydrodynamic torque converter and lock-up, providing 6 forward and 1 reverse gears. A Steyr VG 1200 transfer case handles on- and off-road modes. The 8×6 drivetrain features a mix of steered and driven axles, with transverse differential locks for all driven axles. Braking is managed by a dual circuit compressed air system with engine exhaust brake, eddy current retarder (optional), and constant throttle valve system.
The superstructure is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 904 LA 4-cylinder engine rated at 90 kW (123 HP) at 2300 rpm. The hydraulic system consists of a triple circuit design featuring a variable axial piston displacement pump and a double gear pump, providing smooth and efficient control for all crane functions.
Hoisting operations are driven by an axial piston constant displacement motor with planetary reduction and a multi-disc brake system, including a spring-loaded, automatic holding mechanism. Boom lifting is powered by a single double-acting hydraulic cylinder with integrated holding valve. Slewing is driven by a two-stage planetary gear system with foot actuated brake and variable slewing speeds from 0 to 2.0 rpm.
Outriggers are of the 4-point double telescopic type with full hydraulic actuation, level monitoring, and controls on both sides of the carrier and in the crane cab. The total spread is 7.2 meters when fully extended.
Both the carrier and superstructure cabs are designed for operator comfort and safety, using a composite steel/fiberglass structure with panoramic safety glass, adjustable seats, and heating systems. Steering includes mechanical hydraulic-assist from the carrier cab, with multiple steer modes including 2-axle steer, all-wheel steer, and crab steer, ensuring excellent maneuverability on tight jobsites.
With a counterweight of 8.9 tons (1.2 tons removable), 16.00 R 25 on/off road tires, and comprehensive safety features such as load moment device (LMD), limit switches, holding valves, and drum rotation indicators, the Tadano ATF 70-4 is well-suited for infrastructure, industrial, and energy-related lifting operations.
