Terex Explorer 5800
The Terex Explorer 5800 is a 220-ton all-terrain crane, introduced at Bauma Munich 2013, featuring a 70-meter (229.7-foot) telescopic boom, making it a strong competitor against models like the Grove GMK5220, Tadano ATF 220G-5, and Liebherr LTM 1220-5.1. Powered by a single Scania Euromot IV/Tier 4 diesel engine, it integrates an intelligent control system that automatically adjusts power demand for optimal fuel efficiency. The Explorer 5800 supports multiple axle load configurations, ranging from 9.1 to 16.5 tons per axle, making it adaptable for global market requirements. Although initially well-received, Terex later discontinued the model, replacing it with the Demag AC 220-5.

Product Description
Unveiled at Bauma Munich 2013, the Terex Explorer 5800 was introduced as a modernized 220-ton all-terrain crane, featuring a redesigned cab, enhanced performance, and improved mobility. It was one of the key attractions at the event, with Terex showcasing its new-generation all-terrain crane technology.
The Explorer 5800 is equipped with a 70-meter (229.7-foot) telescopic boom, offering exceptional reach for its class. Competing with industry-leading models like the Grove GMK5220, Tadano ATF 220G-5, and Liebherr LTM 1220-5.1, it provided excellent lifting capacity and versatility. The crane’s flexible axle load configurations (ranging from 9.1 to 16.5 tons per axle) ensured compliance with various regional transport regulations, making it suitable for global markets.
A key innovation of the Explorer 5800 was its single-engine concept, powered by a Scania Euromot IV/Tier 4 diesel engine. This system incorporated an automatic power demand controller, allowing the engine to efficiently distribute power between the carrier and superstructure, improving fuel economy and reducing emissions. This made the Explorer 5800 one of the most fuel-efficient cranes in its class.
Despite its initial success, Terex later discontinued the model, replacing it with the Demag AC 220-5, which featured further refinements in performance, control systems, and transport efficiency.
