Demag CC9800
Terex unveiled its new 1,600 tonnes capacity Demag CC9800 crawler crane at its Zweibruecken facility in Germany in early 2009. The CC9800 is an adaption of the original Demag CC8800-1, using the same basic components with a wider boom which boosts its maximum load moment rating to 27,000 tonne/metres when configured with 800 tonnes of Superlift counterweight at a 3 metres radius. The maximum boom length is 156 metres in SSL/LSL configuration while the longest luffing jib is 120 metres, with a maximum combination of 108 metres plus 120 metres. It can reach a lifting height of 230 metres – ideal for petrochemical and energy sectors.
The crane also features two drive lines so that in the event one fails, the other will take over. It is more efficient when used one drive line at a time.
Sarens has taken delivery of the first CC9800 in 2009 which the crawler was being delivered to Belgium while Enercon took delivery of the second unit in the same year.
